Industries Served - Government
Government laboratories can be quite varied. Some perform
environmental testing. Others are associated with the manufacture of products
used for defense, energy, and health. As such, Aspen LIMS addresses the
varied needs of these laboratories as described below:
- Sampling Points - Aspen LIMS can operate in
a sampling point centric manner that matches how environmental samples
are collected. Sampling points can be part of higher level groupings,
like sampling sets and collection runs.
- Scheduling - The Aspen scheduler module is
available for pre-logging samples, assigning tests, and printing bar-code
labels, chain-of-custodies, and cooler container lists. There are frequency
based scheduling options for setting up daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly
sampling schedules. Calendar-based scheduling addresses any "free-form"
collection needs. And Aspen's Schedule Sets capability addresses the
comprehensive needs of large scale water sampling as well as industrial
pretreatment programs.
- QA/QC Batches - QA/QC batches are supported
along with protocols for defining how samples are tested as a group.
Standards, blanks, spikes, duplicates, controls, surrogates and other
quality control samples are all supported. Standard analysis features,
like dilution factors, correction for solids, and the reporting of data
according to site-specific significant figures is all standard in Aspen.
- Formula builder - Cross test calculations play
an important role in environmental testing. Aspen's formula builder
lets users build calculations without any programming knowledge.
- Aliquots and Composites - Aspen LIMS has full
support for making aliquots of samples where some tests are performed
on a fraction of an original sample; and, composite samples.
- Instrument Integration - Full instrument integration
is available to all types of instruments used in environmental testing.
Downloading of run-sequence files to instruments like ICP and Chromatography
Data Systems is supported.
- Field PDA's - Driven by improving technology
and increased regulation, Telecation has included in its Aspen LIMS
products the integration of hand-held devices for field information
and test data. This integration allows more efficient collection and
processing of sample information and helps maximize accuracy and analytical
quality.
- Generate Plant, State & Federal Reports - Aspen
and Aspen Enterprise LIMS have been seamlessly integrated with a number
of the most popular plant operations software packages designed to address
routine plant reporting as well as state-specific forms and electronic
deliverables and Federal reports such as DMRs, SNC and NPDES formats.
- GALP & NELAC compliance - Aspen complies with
all the key requirements outlined in EPA's Good Automated Laboratory
Practices, as well as those described by the NELAC Quality Assurance
manual.
- Analytical batching & QC reporting - goverment
laboratories often employ LIMS systems for testing large batches of
samples efficiently, where multiple samples from various sources requiring
the same tests need to be grouped together with appropriate QC samples
loaded into instruments and tested in a minimal amount of runs. Some
end-users of the data will require the results of not only QC performed
on their 'respective' samples, but also that associated with the analytical
batch - even if it wasn't performed on their samples. Aspen LIMS supports
these reporting requirements.
- Unlimited variety of reporting formats - government
laboratories must be able to reconcile agencies' disparate needs and
respond quickly and efficiently to those needs in each customer's unique
format.
- Electronic deliverables
- Automatic generation of Agency-specific reports
- Deliver test results to customers quickly and
efficiently via Web Interface - In addition to its Report Scheduling
capability to send snapshot reports to users automatically, the Aspen
Web Access module allows access to perform sample submission and access
sample status updates, reports and virtually all laboratory data using
either standard Internet Browser technology or via PDA's, Tablet PC's
or even SmartPhones. Aspen's web interface permits customer access in
a secure and controlled environment.
- Provide complete traceability throughout the
production process - from raw material to final product
- Provide a flexible technology framework to
support the consolidation of multiple locations into a singular enterprise
for maximum traceability
- Offer a flexible means to enter and process
samples cost effectively
- Easily interface and integrate with various
laboratory instrumentation
- Offer vast amounts of business intelligence
and reporting options to aid in the communication of status and results
of testing and analysis
- Provide a scalable technology solution that
can meet and adapt to growing customer needs
- Support IT and merger and acquisition strategies
- Specification Limit Checking - Whether samples
are batch oriented or from a continuous process, they can be compared
against product specifications and automatically flagged when "out of
spec".
- Instrument data capture and checking - Interface
various chemical and physical laboratory instrumentation for fast and
accurate results transfer. Automatically calculate significant figures,
units of measure, and rounding.
