Professional Services - Training
The business model of Telecation is to develop exceptional
LIMS solutions and to teach our customers how they can use the features
and functionality of the system without unnecessary reliance on vendors.
We like to emphasize on-the-job, hands-on training.
Training for LIMS users is usually divided into two
types: Basic "user training" and LIMS Administrator training.
User Training:
Depending upon your laboratory's requirements, the "user training"
may be broken down to two group - analytical laboratory personnel and
the final "users" of the data. User training is usually designed to educate
all laboratory personnel in the routine use of Aspen. Training consists
of teaching the functionality of the system, i.e. how to log samples into
the system, how to manually enter data, how to import properly configured
instrument data files, how to produce configured reports, set-up and maintenance
of the system reference libraries, and other basic system functions. The
duration of this training is usually determined by the number of personnel
to be trained and the level of expertise of these individuals.
LIMS Administrator Training:
This option provides an on-site visit from one of the Implementation
Specialists assigned to your project to help train the LIMS Administrator
in the addition of fields, modification of forms, modification of reports,
etc. This option requires that the LIMS Administrator have at least limited
experience using Microsoft Access . This training is optional, but available
for facilities desiring to perform major modifications to the system,
or wishing to develop more complex reports, forms, etc. The duration for
this training is usually 3 to 5 days, depending upon the goals of this
training session.
Web-Based Training:
In our Web-Based Training program your laboratory can request training
on specific topics via teleconference and remote access. Using web conferencing
our support personnel can "show" you exactly, step by step, how to perform
specific tasks, just like we were sitting there. In our 18 years of doing
training, we have found that users can only "absorb" so much information
during full day sessions. By about 2:00 p.m. you can actually see many
of the trainees eyes "glaze over". Most users are analysts who are not
used to sitting in a classroom setting for several hours a day, not to
mention 3 consecutive days. Some of the information presented may not
be comprehended, especially if they don't yet understand how these details
are going to work in their everyday use of the LIMS. The Web-Based Training
program lets us sit down with users, via the internet, to cover discrete
aspects of the use of the software in one- or two-hour blocks. These program
hours can also be used to provide a "refresher" on topics as well.
